September 7, 2016
Third-ranked industry player Coral gobbled up Eurobet, acquiring its tax-free Gibraltar base in the process.

Hilton bets on e-gamblers
February 14, 2000: 10:24 a.m. The company said the site is targeted at customers with wider betting knowledge, and will be operated from Gibraltar, where Ladbrokes International has set up an international call center that enable British gamblers to place wagers free of U.K. betting tax.
Ladbrokes cited a recent trade report predicting that annual revenues for internet gambling are likely to triple to $5.5 billion in Western Europe over the next four years.
Shares of Hilton Group were up 6.7 percent at 171 pence in London Monday afternoon, off earlier highs. The news sent Hilton shares soaring more than 7 percent in London.
Joining a recent rush into the burgeoning field of e-gambling, Ladbroke on Monday opened bet.co.uk, a U.K soccer-focused betting site, to be followed next week by Ladbrokes.com, which the company described as a “a multi-lingual, multi-currency…tax-free international service” aimed at tapping a mushrooming market for online betting and gaming.
Ladbroke claims to be the leading worldwide brand in a betting and gaming market it estimates to be worth more than 520 billion pounds ($830 billion) a year. gaming group unveils online betting, digital TV ventures
LONDON (CNNfn) – U.K. hotel and leisure company Hilton Group on Monday announced plans for its Ladbroke unit, Britain’s biggest gaming operator, to launch a series of electronic betting websites to entice online gamblers to its virtual betting tables. Last week, the group plumbed four-year lows on the blue-chip FTSE 100 index.
–from staff and wire reports. Its online initiatives are part of an ongoing program of investments, partnerships and promotions worth about $100 million pounds. The company hopes to gain access to digital television viewers via an alliance with Open, a satellite TV service backed in part by BskyB, a broadcaster 40-percent owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. ET Leading U.K. partnerships we are announcing today will enable Ladbroke’s, the world’s leading betting group, to reach a far wider and more affluent audience,” Peter George, Hilton group’s chief executive, said in a statement.
“Leading with new media advances will enable the Ladbroke brand to reach more than 70 percent of adults who play the (U.K.) national lottery, compared to the current 6 percent of the population who use the betting shops.”
Ladbrokes also said it is working with Ericsson to develop a betting service that could be delivered to Ericsson mobile phones.
Chris Bell, Ladbroke’s managing director, said bet.co.uk is for sports fans who may not necessarily be acquainted with betting parlors. In other recent deals, William Hill, the number-two betting company set up an offshore betting arm in January. It is “for people who like sport but don’t necessarily understand the difference between 6/4 and 4/1″, Bell said in a statement, using the gambling jargon of professional oddsmakers.
Ladbrokes.com, meanwhile, will offer tax-free Internet betting in English Cantonese Chinese, Italian and Spanish.
Elsewhere in the electronic gambling market, Sports Internet Group last week joined forces with Freeserve – the U.K.’s pioneering free ISP launch by electronics retailer Dixons in 1998 – to create an online gambling service

* Organisers, betting industry to meet on March 20
“I think with doping, sports have got their heads around
that and are dealing with the issue. London organisers will meet representatives of the IOC,
Sports Minister Hugh Robertson, the Gambling Commission and

“The unregulated market, the blackness of it to everyone is
the issue. Ninety percent of the ground work is
already there,” Betfair’s public affairs manager Susannah Gill

Despite the efforts of the gaming industry to combat fixing,
everyone involved in sport recognises that the main threat lies
in unregulated betting in Asia.

The threat posed by sports betting corruption came to the
fore last year when three Pakistani cricketers were jailed after
being found guilty of taking bribes to fix parts of a test match

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques

the integrity of sports as doping.
Gill said she believed the world of sport was beginning to
address the issue of illegal betting having previously been slow
to realise the severity of the threat it poses.

Good evening , dear friends. Maybe Liverpool were very close to ruin that Spanish SuperCup Final, but Sevilla just made a remarkable turn-about. You saw and read in the heading of the article – immortal powers.. I decided to play , make a little questionnaire with you – my readers and visitors. Tomorrow we be a great game to come. One of them was the match between Crvena Zvezda – Ludogoretz. We have been in all the epicenter and now we are expecting Euro 2016 Finals in France. Everyone has it is own world, but we have a lot in common sports and bookmakers offers on different matches in all king of sports. It is nice to meet you on this sunny Friday morning. As bettors and fans, most of us , had watched all of the games, been to some of the stadiums and made a lot of bet on all popular and not that popular markets. Good morning to all, as we are all now keen in expectations of starting of the new season in Premier League. I will give my best to direct you to winning outcomes and happy …
Good day to everyone. Since I was a very little boy at the age of 10 , I liked watching Italian football, because of the passion on the stands-fans chanting all the 90 minutes and because all the legends , I have watched – Vialli, Baresi, Donadoni, Nesta, Veron, Bepe Signori , Gabrial Batistuta, Maldini, Schilaci, De Livigho, Nedved, Diego Armando Maradona,Crespo, Roberto Baggio and many more ? Lets take a rest from the Italian football and get concentrated on what we are about to bet and watch today. In my experience as a trader, I always preferred to trade live games, not just changing odds for pre- match compiling of figures and stats. It is the end of the football season in all the top 4 European leagues and I feel obliged , I have to say few words about the Champions an the runners up. Weekend is a special place and time, for us – bettors, punters and sports traders. Doubles chance x2 – 1,62 @ bwin. I want to make this blog better with your help. The football program for today is very rich and intensive, but these two games have gathered my attention. It has been a long time since my last post. There has been a lot if interesting moments and game during the past weekend. The good manager can leave a permanent sign, a trace for all the next generation of fans, managers and football players all around the continent. Those two teams met in the last final of the European Finals. A whole week labor and effort , may come to a great winning conclusion of the week, even if your team has not taken the needed 3 points or missed the chance to score in the last minute of the game. Not only stars, but players and people who have changed and are currently changing the history of football. I have prepared for you 2 games. Liverpool are very strong visiting team and in my opinion they will not lose this game, yes they had hard times at Burnley, but with “hot spurs ” will be a different situation. Levski are in crisis, not capable to overcome Maribor from Slovenia after two draw games. Yes it is also about the spread and immense influence over the fans and normal people. His glory will reach the most far away parts of our planet, just before you could pronounce his whole name. The section great football derbies on the blog has been covered with dust for a period of 6 months.
Good evening, dear readers and friends. It will be a very interesting and intense weekend, especially when we will be about to watch and get thrilled …
Goo day , dear tipsters, bettors , handicappers or just devoted fans. Destiny loves to play jokes with us, in the previous round the boys of Jurgen Klopp had made the decent game, winning at Anfield 4-3 against Borussia Dortmund , after the result was 3-1 in the 55 minute of the second game. England does not have a good national team, but the UK, Premier League is one of the best Championships around the globe, not only in Europe. First game in Razgrad ended 2-2 and no one convinced the visiting squad to be the winner after the second game, which has been expected to be played against 50 000 fanatic fans of the Serbian team. I have been searching for a long time to for the appropriate games to offer for betting this week. When you see the names of the teams in the header, I guess the first thing that occurs in your mind is – total Spanish dominance. Even some of the home team Ultras went in front of the hotel of the Bulgarians and flamed piro effect, which was very cowardice and mousy thing to do. They wanted to scared the “eagles”, but ….. Everyone is free to chose, the most suitable bookie from the banners in my blog. Unfortunately Italy lost, but other team of Spain was simply hard to be beaten. I want to see and read who is standing on the other hand of the monitor, who you are and why you come back or you never return. Legends and remarkable gladiators, …
Good day , dear friends. I will be focusing in the future on 2 games and will try to give you as much predictions about them as I can. Let’s get started with the betting tips: Tottenham – Liverpool : at first sight appears the market both teams to score @ 1,62 (bet365). One team, who was close to relegation , played several seasons ago in the Championship, had pointed out and …
Good morning, dear fans. Mala Marakana expected this game for a days now. But …. But now I am here and I am about to give and expand the best of me. We, as a sports betting society and team of men and women, searching for the most appropriate outcome, are kind of a strange birds. When …
Good morning, dear punters. Actually these are the Championships, which are easiest for me, for predictions. As from now on, I will be giving you some of my tips as per the odds of betfair.com There are actually 3 bookmakers …
Hi , dear all. They have the good faith of the owners of the clubs to invest, hire, demolish or raise -up teams . Yes, I know now are the Olympics going Rio , but my focus is elsewhere. All of us are happy because the UK Premiership had started yesterday. A game that had everything in it. To clean the dust and take everything in order is not such an easy process. But this is football and that is why we love it so much and love to bet on it… Sometimes people do not like to get a figure pointed and the right direction. I call it space ship, because we are travelling in the world of bets , sports, live betting and of a recognition of good and noble bookies, which deserve our attention and money. I will definitely give you advice to take …
Hello, dear friends. In such cases , I leave you the free choice to take the direction, which you think should be a correct one. When you say Italy and Spain are playing , you figure out fast in your mind such names as : Casillas, Buffon, Di Maria, Baggio, Baquero, Guardiola, Vialli, Maldini, Donadoli, Paolo Rossi and many other. How do you feel today ? What will your best bet be on the upcoming FA cup games? I would like to ask you so many questions. The main fever and how to say, the light of the cameras is always concentrated on the main figures in the top 5 teams, the managers. Yesterday night we saw several nice games from the Champions League elimination round, one phase before the true games for entering the Group stage. As you can see from the header , the games will be split on two – one from Italy and another from England. I am convinced it will be a perfect one as one f the best games of this Euro 2016 tournament is about to be played later on. But lets try to stick to the main line of the post – the top 4 European countries and their Football Championships: England – actually , I like most watching football from Italy , but this season was a great surprise what have happened there on the Albion. The theme of today theme is another. My happiness will be a 100 % sure, when Seria A season in Italy will also be promoted, but this will happen very soon ( 6 days now). The coaches which have that power as the Roman Emperors did back in the days. When two teams from the same country have won the top tournaments in one sport, there should be no other parallel. You may think that this is about the players of the wish for dominance, both giants in sports do have and had
CNN – Gambling online? You bet!

attorney for the Southern District of New York, indicted 14 managers of six Internet companies for offering gambling on their sites. Says Sinclair of Christiansen/Cummings: “You are going to feel more comfortable wagering with a Hilton than you will with Joe’s Casino.”
Although it uses a CryptoLogic template similar to several other online casinos, Kennyrogerscasino.com may be unique in letting bettors wager as little as a penny at a time. In most cases, this means operating out of Australia. Even the firms that have enjoyed some stock-price popularity – such as Youbet.com – have shaky fundamentals. In 1997, published reports put the total number of operating online casinos at 15. One of Microsoft (MSFT)’s less-publicized adventures is Ninemsn, an Australia-based Internet service to which Bill Gates has pledged tens of millions of dollars. For one thing, gambling from one’s home allows for a variety of techniques that would get one tossed out of a regular casino. “We get daily reports, and you’ll see these people who spend a couple of hours gambling, and the total amount they bet is like $1.81,” says Thomas Holmes, Inland’s head of technology.
All the sites indicted by the U.S. Even the precise number of online casinos is hard to calculate. “Think about what would happen to Wal-Mart (WMT), General Motors or Microsoft if these companies had to continue to dodge federal roadblocks to access their customers,” says Sebastian Sinclair, senior associate at Christiansen/Cummings Associates, a management consulting firm. In 1998, the Senate passed, by a large margin, an amendment prohibiting Internet gambling, but that bill died before becoming law. (However, an HBO sports program attempted to locate one of these ventures in Aruba, and ultimately found that the genuine server was in a residential neighborhood in Bethlehem, Pa.) And the Caribbean nations would like to keep their haven status. Bets generally range from $1 to as much as $300. attorney’s case involved the casinos’ sportsbooks. “The telephone is being used to facilitate these wagers and I believe the government has a solid case,” explains Tony Cabot, a Las Vegas-based gaming lawyer and author of a book on Internet gaming. And for sports bettors – who make up a majority of online gamblers, according to industry insiders – the ease of using cyberbookies can’t be beat.
But the growing acceptance of online betting and the Internet’s inherent ability to shatter jurisdictions bring the inconsistencies of American gaming law to a boil.
Running an online casino carries all the usual challenges of Internet businesses, from low click-through rates to servers that fail.
Finally, the DoJ believes that any federal law must recognize that the Internet is different from other communications media: It’s a multifaceted communications medium that allows for both point-to-point transmission between two parties (like the telephone), as well as the widespread dissemination of information to a vast audience (like a newspaper). In the ’70s, Atlantic City legalized casino gambling; in the ensuing decades, state lotteries, Indian casinos, gaming ships, offtrack betting parlors and card clubs have sprouted across the landscape. Together, these sites have about 4,300 registered customers in 96 countries around the world. Passed during the term of crime-fighter Attorney General Robert Kennedy, the law was intended to outlaw betting over telephone lines. If, on the other hand, an activity is in the physical world – betting on horses, or casino betting with Indian tribes – it becomes subject to federal criminal sanction when it occurs in cyberspace. (The company did not respond to repeated requests for an interview.)
Group calls for regulation of Net gambling
For years, another barrier to the growth of Internet gambling has been strong opposition from those most threatened by gambling sites: legal American casinos. The vast majority of customers will satisfy their demand for commercial gambling through less onerous and risky alternatives, such as lotteries, bingo, pari-mutuels and casinos.”
Second, legislation should be technology-neutral. Estimates range from $650 million to $1 billion a year, worldwide – a tiny fraction of the amount spent on more traditional formats. In a highly publicized March 1998 “raid,” Mary Jo White, the U.S. attorney’s office theoretically operate out of the Caribbean.
The amount spent on Internet gambling is harder to calculate. He claims Inland’s Internet gambling business went slightly into the black in March, on annualized revenues of about $1 million. That makes for an Internet gambling environment too porous for U.S law enforcement to plug. . to gain access to offshore sites,” says Sebastian Sinclair of Christiansen/Cummings. Tony Cabot, an attorney specializing in gaming issues, says flatly, “When you see Kerry Packer get together with Microsoft, you have to believe there is a future for this type of wagering.”
But over the last several months, at least some traditional casinos have pursued the time-honored strategy of joining an Internet gambling trend that they can’t beat. “Ultimately, Internet gambling operators are selling a product. Nor would it prohibit online fantasy sports leagues, online lotteries in states where they are legal, or online betting on any live horse race where it would otherwise be lawful to wager. Legislation tied to a particular technology may quickly become obsolete and require further amendment. They almost always include slots, blackjack and video poker, but many sites carry more exotic games, from baccarat to pai gow. But the travails associated with fending off lawsuits have essentially put the company out of business. I’ve not had problems being paid.”
The original version of Kyl’s bill failed most of these tests. Failure to account for that specificity in legislation could stifle the Internet’s growth or chill its use as a communications tool.
Prosecutors focus on sports betting
Intriguingly, though, all the bets that make up the U.S. A Ninemsn spokesperson says that the site does not now offer online gambling and would not comment on future plans. (The company’s Indian casino and Web-development divisions make more.) “This is the really exciting point, because I know where it goes from here,” Speer said in an interview. The Justice Department doesn’t think that online casinos (including those that offer gambling on sports events) can legally conduct business in the United States, even if they are based in places where gambling is legal. About 2,000 years later, Bugsy Siegel took the concept a step further and built the Flamingo Hotel in the desert town of Las Vegas. Would-be wagerers open an account with a credit card, although some sites also accept cash and cashier’s checks.
Gambling is as at least as old as Christianity (that is, if Ben Hur can be trusted). college and professional sports. The Standard obtained a Department of Justice analysis of the bill S.
You might think that the prospect of competing against the likes of Microsoft would terrify a $20 million company like Inland. The prosecutors’ focus on sports bets appears to stem from legal precedent in the law they relied on. That figure exaggerates the size of the Internet gambling sector, since some companies operate more than one online betting parlor.
Take Interactive Gaming and Communications, another publicly traded company, located in Blue Bell, Pa.
It’s not because they operate in any fundamentally different way.
Today, Americans spend some $600 billion a year on legal gambling, making it by far the favored national pastime. Blackjack players can very easily count cards, or even consult odds charts; the Kennyrogerscasino.com site actually has a printable chart showing the best strategy for every possible hand of blackjack. His equal partner is Australian tycoon Kerry Packer of the Crown Casino in Victoria. “And it is possible that records could be subpoenaed of various banks where these companies maintain accounts.”
Internet Gambling Worldwide, Past and Future
So how is it that these companies appear to operate legally, but a dozen Caribbean cowboys found themselves under felony indictment?
If such gamblers are not satisfied by options available to U.S. has had little cooperation from any other nation. That may suggest that, as some legal observers have argued, the 1961 federal Wire Act is too old and too loosely written to prohibit online gambling. FBI agents placed bets on games – uniformly National Football League matches, although many other options are available – and followed up, whether they won or lost. The Internet is presently unregulated and we support a federal law regulating Internet gambling.”
That partnership leads many observers to believe that an online casino – using Microsoft platforms, of course – is in the works. Justice believes that any legislation addressing criminal misuse of computers or computer systems (including the Internet) should have three vital characteristics. In November 1998, for example, a division of Hilton Hotels acquired the company that runs Centrebet, a Web and telephone sports-wagering system based in Australia (www.centrebet.com.au). If an activity is prohibited in the physical world but not on the Internet, the Internet becomes a safe haven for that criminal activity. Anyone over the age of 18 can set up an account with Centrebet and place money on a variety of worldwide sporting events, including U.S. … But as more and more traditional firms become involved, the consumer will look for the brand name.
The office of U.S. The American Gaming Association, a trade group of gaming firms, maintains this view regarding online wagering: “The industry has been state-regulated and we think it should remain that way.
First, legislation should treat physical activity and cyberactivity in the same way. But following a 1997 indictment, the state of Missouri settled a suit against the company and its president, Michael Simone, for about $35,000. Why should it be legal to bet online on a horse race in another state, but not legal to bet on a basketball game in one’s own state? If Native American tribes can establish new, legal, physical places where adults can gamble, why shouldn’t someone be able to do the same in cyberspace?
Is Microsoft betting too?
The potential action is too compelling for even the largest tech tycoons to resist. citizens, it will be increasingly tempting for them to turn to locations abroad. Almost all online gambling sites work the same. Aruba, for one, is refusing to extradite any indicted individuals to the U.S., and thus far the U.S. One Australian state, Queensland, is already awarding licenses for online gambling, and others may follow soon. In January, MegaSports began taking Internet bets from Australians; it expects soon to allow global gambling on sporting events. Packer is a man with a voracious gambling appetite. “Since there are no controls at present regarding Internet wagering, I would urge investors to shun these firms at present,” he says.
But a hard-core base will continue to turn to Internet betting for its clear advantages. “I use the service because it’s convenient and I have access to it when I want,” says one online gambler.
Similarly, the Las Vegas-based public company American Wagering, owner of Leroy’s Horse and Sports Place in Nevada, also operates a sports gambling site located in Canberra called MegaSports (www.megasports.com.au). At one point, Interactive Gaming looked like it could be an industry leader. 474, introduced into the Senate by Arizona’s John Kyl in 1997 as the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act. Says Opel, “Bringing in the big names and established companies only adds credibility and visibility to what we’re already doing.”
Is it legal?
A few hurdles have to be cleared before such ventures can take off – beginning with the federal government. White’s hesitancy suggests that the law may not be as solid as she thought when she indicted. Like the Communications Act passed in the 1930s, technology has now leapfrogged the law. O’Brien observes in Bad Bet, his comprehensive account of America’s gambling industry, “Judging by dollars spent, gambling is now more popular in America than baseball, the movies and Disneyland combined.”
More than a year later, however, no cases have come to trial, and nine defendants have accepted plea bargains for state misdemeanor charges with no jail time. Casino games are available on a site or via downloadable software.
Does the seeming invincibility of online gambling make it an enticing business? Jason Ader of Bear Stearns, urges caution. But they say the more bettors, the better. For decades, Vegas was about the only legal option for gamblers. Today, a roster on one “gambling portal” site lists well over 200. Legislators have considered enlisting Internet service providers to patrol for undesirable sites, although Internet gambling insiders consider that proposal dead on arrival. “Federal legislation will make it difficult but not impossible for Internet gamblers in the U.S. “I wager on football games and usually bet in the neighborhood of $1,000 every weekend. Her higher-ups in the Justice Department appear to agree.
One major barrier to profitability is the law. Their case is based on the 1961 Wire Act. Inland, for example, operates two Web sites in addition to the one bearing Kenny Rogers’ likeness: Casinoaustralia.com and Goodluckclub.com.
Nonetheless, some experts think the case could be made to stick. Attorney White has proceeded slowly and quietly. As Timothy L. Kyl introduced a revised version earlier this year, removing some of the more onerous and hard-to-enforce provisions. The Wire Act obviously has no mention of wagering over the Internet.
But even if Congress comes up with the best-crafted legislation in history, there are significant factors beyond its control. According to an analysis by Sue Schieder of Rolling Good Times, the online gambling magazine, the new legislation would not punish the casual bettor. The minimum amount to begin an account varies. The defendants, many of whom live abroad, were threatened with up to five years in prison and $250,000 fines. But according to Inland CEO Don Speer, elusive profits need not be one of them

‘Arbitrage’ should put Richard Gere back on the movie star map
September 5, 2016
In a shady move to make his company look profitable and enticing to potential buyers, Miller borrows half a billion dollars from an associate (played by director William Friedkin) to temporarily store in his accounts. We witness him consciously make terrible choice after terrible choice, like a tragic hero. He keeps up the façade of a sparkling billionaire, but behind those eyes we see raw fear and a conscience devouring itself.
Director Nicholas Jarecki’s first feature shows that he is a master juggler, keeping many equally intriguing threads of the story in the air without ever letting them fall. He is a perfect fit for Robert Miller, just as “Arbitrage” is a perfect fit for the star.
Gere delivers his best performance to date as Robert Miller, a hedge fund magnate secretly on the brink of bankruptcy. Miller’s scheme is mere inches from success when he accidentally kills his mistress (Laetitia Casta) in a car accident, bringing forth questions from the police and his wife (Susan Sarandon). He works hard to avoid NYPD Det. Susan Sarandon gives a noteworthy performance as Miller’s wife. Miller is then caught in a series of escalating nightmares, from an affair gone wrong to the looming merger deadline to becoming the target in a police investigation.
Gere is superb at portraying the sliding scale of success. Roth is coarse as he cuts through all the seedy economic and legal details, desperately trying to stick evidence to the sly and slithering Miller. No matter which road he takes, Miller is on his way to a very bad place. Bryer’s (Tim Roth) scrutiny while working the legal system to get his patsy (Nate Parker) off an accomplice charge. That’s both a testament to Gere’s performance as much as Jarecki’s screenplay.
“Arbitrage” is a resurrection of sorts for Gere. With a sale pending, his associate demands his money back, against Miller’s protests. On top of all that, Miller must hide his fraudulent business dealings from his heir-apparent daughter Brooke (Brit Marling) and try to negotiate his buyer into purchasing his failed company. Jarecki gives us a fascinating look into the mind of a financially and morally bankrupt individual.
“Arbitrage” opens in theaters and is also available on-demand on September 14.
Gere is wonderfully contrasted by the gutsy and grimy performance by Tim Roth as Detective Bryer. Though he is a pretty rotten person and quite conscious his actions are destroying everyone around him, it’s hard to not have a modicum of empathy for Miller. When things are going strong for Miller, Gere gives us a raucous, pompous performance of a man deifying himself. Gere really shines, though, as Miller comes close to losing everything. She expertly turns a seemingly non-existent role from the first half of the film into a heavy-hitting, blood-boiling performance by film’s end.
Richard Gere cooks the books in “Arbitrage,” an elegantly crafted potboiler that fires on all cylinders, giving the “Officer and a Gentlemen” star his juiciest role yet.
Jarecki fashions a wonderful Shakespearean character with Miller
Offshore Gambling Operators to fall under Secondary UK Online Gambling Tax
September 5, 2016
The results have been worth a glance.
The survey revealed that should the taxation be levied on such operators, gamblers and betters in UK would not shy away from playing at unlicensed sites, just to avoid the complications. Views of many of experts from the industry as well as several gambling ventures representatives will be considered by the committee before a conclusion is arrived at. However, since the time of its inception, this has come under scrutiny and has been widely criticised not just by local land-based casinos and betting establishments related to sports but also by several prominent politicians and public figures of the country. This survey conducted by William Hill also brought to light the fact that if the tax is 10%, ventures would lose 27% of their revenue while if the tax is 15%, ventures would lose as much as 40% of their revenue. More people will go overseas or to fly-by-night, unregulated sites where the consumer is not protected. If the stricter laws are sanctioned, such disparity will soon be a thing of the past.
The commission that has been formed by the UK officials has been established with the purpose of analysing the relevance, bearing and outcome, should a secondary taxation be implemented on the offshore operators. Currently, the offshore operators who provide online gambling facilities in Britain have an upper hand on the British operators which has, understandably, disgruntled the local land and online operators. However, there are other ventures like Rank PLC that believe giving offshore ventures the advantage of not having to pay tax is against the EU legislation.
The relatively easier law that governs offshore gambling ventures was adopted by the UK online gambling legislation in the year 2005.
In the recent turn of events, UK officials have decided to investigate the online gambling taxation scenario in the country and have declared that a commissioning body has already been formed for the same. Speaking about the issue, Ralph Topping, CEO, William Hill, said, “Money will always find a way out. There is a major discrepancy in the profits earned by the offshore and local ventures, thanks to the extremely lenient taxation rules that are levied on the offshore operators. With a growing number of people voicing their opinions against this glaring differentiation, the government of UK has been forced to rethink its policies. Owing to such rules, offshore ventures have managed to cash in much more than their UK-based operators have been able to do. I hope the Government sees sense on this.” For the very purpose of evading high taxes in the UK, William Hill had moved its operations headquarter from the country to Gibraltar. As a result of this, the government has decided to apply a secondary tax on all such offshore gambling ventures.. With this new law being passed, William Hill would be back to the mess it was in three years back. With so much talk surrounding the UK government’s impending secondary taxation and licensing implementation, legendary William Hill decided to go ahead with its independent survey. Going by the report, tough times are predicted for offshore online gambling operators as the government plans to impose taxation laws that promise to be more stringent than they have been in the past
Toxic Relationships: Surviving a Narcissist
September 5, 2016
I grew up surrounded by them. . A father who is a compulsive gambler and liar – someone who takes self interest to a whole new level. There is no experience quite as humbling as giving your all to a relationship and discovering that the other person was not remotely committed to you or the relationship. Most of us have filters, and we know when we’re hurting someone and try to make amends. I started to ask questions, set boundaries and I was not cooperating to her satisfaction, so I was dismissed. Then last, but by no means least, a grandmother who lived nearby who could suck the life out of a room with just one or two vicious comments. It does not occur to them. A mother, who I love dearly, but would best be classified as a benign narcissist. I got a first hand glimpse at a female narcissist and it took about a year into our two-year relationship for me to start wondering whether I was actually losing my mind. Those of us who know them intimately have become masters of looking the other way, of making excuses, of refusing to see ugly when ugly is standing right in front of us waving an enormous red flag..
Whether Male or Female, The Narcissist is a Nightmare
They say that 75% of Narcissists are men. The other 25% are women, and they are just as deadly.
It’s hard for thinking, feeling human beings to understand the true nature of someone who is unable to love and unable to empathize. Everything I believed about myself was called into question: How I looked, how I ate, how I functioned – normally quite well thank you – but not when I’m under siege. A narcissist doesn’t understand the concept of making amends, because they truly are never wrong. We try to modify our behavior so that we don’t make the same mistakes. It wasn’t so much a breakup as a dismissal. While it’s slowly dawns on you that you weren’t quite paying attention, they’ve already moved on.
Who Are We? The Ones Who Get Sucked In?
How do they weave their spell? How does a strong, intelligent and grounded woman or man get sucked into the black hole of someone else’s insatiable psyche? It’s easy, if you’re used to Narcissists.
